Here's a question for you..... who are you baptised in? Many of us believe we are baptised in to Jesus. But could we be mislead about our baptism???

I know when i was "baptised", I was told that it was for repentance. but this verse below says that John's baptism was for repentance and to believe in the Christ who was to come. I beleive that the Church is operating in a distorted versions of the Baptism of John and not the Baptism of Jesus. The baptism of Jesus brings the power of the Spirit....the gifts of the Spirit. that's all I'm going to say; you guys read these Scriptures and see for yourselves:

Acts 19:2-6
2And he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." 3And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" They said, "Into John's baptism." 4And Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus." 5On hearing this, they were baptized in[b] the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.

Here is an example of the Baptism of John:

Mark 1:4
John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 3:2
"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

The Baptism of Jesus

Matthew 3:11
11"I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

When the Disciples Were Baptised with the Spirit and Fire, what Happened???

Acts 2:4
4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I'm not going to list all the things that happen through the Baptism of Jesus...if you're hungry and want more, then research it.

GRACE AND PEACE,
david

i so just have to tell yall this. so i went to church with some people here for the first time in like a month or so. it was so awesome. i was so touched yesterday like i can barely describe it. i love it when God just shows up when you feel like you have gone so far that he could never reach you. its so amazing how much he can show you when you actually just become humble and let him break your heart. i'm just so excited about life now and everything else that he has planned for me.

John 15:13
"Greater love has no man than this, that he would lay down his life for his friend"

is there anyone in your life that you would truly die for? there may be one, but it's not that many. Jesus died for everyone (even those annoying people that we cannot stand)! show LOVE to everyone. yes i know this is harder than it sounds but if you do your life will be blessed beyond belief!

much love and God bless yall.

Hey y'all! I just wanted to tell everyone of this awesome Christian radio station you can get online if you're tired of Way-FM. Go to www.air1.com. It's more of the Christian rock. Anyways, I hope everyone is having a marvelous day! Just feel like I need to share this:

Never ending
Dreams keep coming
Consuming the psyche
Wanting to breakaway
But reality hammers
At the door of life

I shall leave y'all with Psalm 140:4
"Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have purposed to make my steps stumble. 5The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah"

God bless y'all!

So tonight I hung out with a bunch of drunk people. This was actually the first time I've ever been offered anything alcoholic to drink. But I am here, ladies and gentleman, to say that I wasn't even tempted to have any. Like, a couple of people were like "hey, you want a beer?" I just said no and they said "oh, you don't drink?" Again I said no and they were like "ok, that's cool." No one there put any pressure on me and no one talked down to me for it either, so that was pretty cool of them I guess. When I was leavin this guy named B.J., who i also work with, said "Landon, I think it's cool that you don't drink. Never start." And I don't plan to either, haha. But yeah, I just wanted to relate that to you guys.

Mom woke me up at about 9:30 this morning. I was like "oh crap, I'm gonna be late for church." But then I remember that we didn't have church today...it was tonight instead. I wasn't sure if we were going to make it because of the weather. But alas, we did. Since I just got the new Bible, I took it along with me. It was the first time I've taking one in years. Maybe I've never taken one, I don't know. But yeah, I like it better having one to refer to.

Anyway, the first preacher tonight is the one I play poker with (no, not for money, haha). He was talking about how Jesus was at Simon's house eating and the prostitute lady came in and she washed/kissed his feet, etc. Heath, my preach, accidentily said at one point the the woman dried his head, rather than his feet. So after church I said to him "Heath, I was wondering if you could point out where it says the woman dried Christ's head." He was like "oh no, did I really say that?" It was funny I thought.

So the next preacher talked about the different ways the word "saved" is used in the Bible. He was saying anytime some people see it, they automatically assume it means eternal salvation, which is true. However, there are many different ways it is used.

Examples of this:
Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins"

Now, here it IS talking about eternal salvation. It says Christ will save his people from their sins, which says nothing about dying on the cross to give EVERYONE who will ever inhabit Earth a chance to accept him and believe in him so they may go to Heaven. But instead, it says quite simply that He will die for HIS PEOPLE, meaning the elect. But in a nutshell, it means eternal salvation.

Acts 2:40 "And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation"

Here Peter is telling the Jews not to act in the ways suggested around them and to live for God. This is not meaning eternal salvation.

Acts 2:46 " And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

Again, this is not eteral salvation. This is after Peter told the Jews to live their lives in a good Christian manner and as 46 shows, they did. And the salvation referred to in 47 is talking about the change of lifestyle...a personal salvation.

Those are just a few of many examples. In short, just because the word "saved" is used in the Bible does not mean it has to be eternal. Maybe that helped some of you. Maybe it just made you mad. I don't know. I just wanted to get my views across.

Bye all!

Well, I got a new Bible today at this Christian book store in Cullman. Large print, references in the center column, yeah, it's a good'un. There was only guy workin in the store and so when he went to the back to put the inscription in the Bible, he left several customers just walking around freely in the store. I found this amusing. I even said to this lady "wow, they really trust their customers don't they." She seemed to find the funny, or maybe she was just being polite, I don't know. But yeah, that's my story of the day.
